Nefarious Industries presents “Frankenstein” by American garage rock / math rock duo FUCK YOUR BIRTHDAY. Born in Morgantown, WV, and currently based out of New York City and Wenzhou, China, the band’s infectious sophomore record, Maydays, is available June 8, 2018, in a limited edition 6-panel Digipak CD format and at digital retailers worldwide.
“‘Frankenstein’ is a song about the narrative of the same name. I also think it acts as an analogy for what a song is to a musician; sometimes a real monster, yet we have a deep-rooted desire to make one. This track is a Frankenstein’s monster, as it was pieced together with drums from our previous LP, Touchless Automatic. The video is a collage of a bunch of moments leading up to our tour.”
““Afterlife” drips with an earnest sound that is as catchy as it is sneeringly in-your-face. It reminds me of when I used to stay up late in high school, recording college radio shows to cassette, and just hoping the DJ actually says what they’re playing. This is the type of song that I would have loved to find on Napster and force my friends to listen to. In the age of crystal clear production in million-dollar studios, FUCK YOUR BIRTHDAY is a welcome throwback to a time when bands just said “Fuck it. Let’s record an album and hit the road.”” – Toilet ov Hell
“Weaving together elements of garage, math, pop and indie rock with dashes of post-hardcore edge here and there, FUCK YOUR BIRTHDAY seem to be masters at all things catchy and eclectic. With its slow-burning verses, massive guitar chords, and earworm choruses, “Cargo Shorts” is what would happen if Weezer had more balls. From the angular pop of “Afterlife” to the dreamlike passages of “Ho Chi Minh”, Maydays is a delightfully volatile half-our rock record.” – Svbterranean
