Anybody in the area should see LACES OUT at their all-ages matinee show celebrating the EP’s release this Sunday, August 20th in Beacon, New York, the band’s last show of the season. Additional tour dates for later this year will be announced in the weeks ahead.

8/20/2017 The Platform – Beacon, NY w/ I Can Dream, Just, Valatie Kills *matinee [info]

LACES OUT sounds like licking dirt with tiny granules of sugar scattered throughout. Merging punk, indie, grunge, and noise rock elements through a surge of heartfelt songwriting, listeners can expect trace elements of Fugazi, Unwound, At The Drive In, Jesus Lizard, Pissed Jeans, BVS, Young Widows, Drive Like Jehu, and Nirvana in their songs. Dynamics and angular progression drive their sound, which is heavily influenced by noise from the ‘90s. Laces Out was recorded live at Boom Stick Recording in Monroe, New York, engineered by Jeff Rendano, produced by Rendano and the band, mastered at Nada Studios by Eric Costello, and finished with artwork by Joe Hallmark.

Decibel stated, “The members of LACES OUT have been playing music together for more than a decade, so they presented themselves a unique challenge: write a whole EP, in order, without trashing any songs. The end result is a cohesive and fluid EP that takes influence from a host of bands like Nirvana, Fugazi, At The Drive In and Jesus Lizard but has its own sound still.” Metal Trenches’ review includes, “LACES OUT oozes aesthetic of the days when alternative radio reigned supreme and MTV actually played edgy music videos instead of reality garbage… I am immediately thinking of Fugazi.”

LACES OUT: Nefarious Industries To Release Eponymous Debut EP By Upstate New York Trio In July – Earsplit Compound

Nefarious Industries announces the July release of the eponymous debut EP from upstate New York-based trio LACES OUT, featuring alumni of former Nefarious act, Pigeon.

LACES OUT sounds like licking dirt with tiny granules of sugar scattered throughout. Hailing from Orange County, New York, the band features members of Warwick-based post-punk quintet Pigeon, as well as acts Mandark, Veneer, and others. Drummer Steve Delucia and guitarist Ed Ciarfella have been playing together in various projects for nearly fourteen years. Longtime friend and local scene veteran Ray Wasnieski joined the duo in Pigeon, and continued onward with them in LACES OUT.

Dynamics and angular progression drive their sound, which is heavily influenced by noise from the ‘90s. Listeners can expect trace elements of Fugazi, Unwound, At The Drive In, Jesus Lizard, Pissed Jeans, BVS, Young Widows, Drive Like Jehu, and Nirvana from their songs.

LACES OUT offers of their debut EP, “We decided to write five songs in order without scratching one track. In fact, it was as if we finished song one and went right on to write songs two through five; the order in which you hear the music is the order we wrote it in. This was our challenge to ourselves as writers: could we manifest an EP song by song and be happy with the outcome? The answer was ‘yes,’ and more so than other projects, in which we spent countless practices scratching and rewriting. It was super fun writing these songs together this way, and we hope this is heard when listening to it.”

Laces Out was recorded live at Boom Stick Recording in Monroe, New York, engineered by Jeff Rendano, produced by Rendano and the band, mastered at Nada Studios by Eric Costello, and finished with artwork by Joe Hallmark. Nefarious Industries will issue the EP on July 28th, on all digital platforms as well as a special edition 7” limited to 50 copies. PIGEON: Everything is local – Interview by Idioteq

“The first day of a new week is a perfect time to play a tune from PIGEON, very nice post punk / post hardcore band from Warwick, New York. All the fans of FUGAZI should definitely check it out. While they have likely drawn the most acclaim from the 90s post hardcore scene, their music brings angry, yet melodic overtone. Taste it below.”
