Terrorizer called Goes to Purgatory, “… one of the most exciting debuts of the year, ” and Metal Hammer deemed it “…complex, unique and forward-thinking but sticks to old-school Mid-West raunch, gristly noise rock chord structures and a basic garage aesthetic.”

All the fans of FUGAZI should definitely check it out. While they have likely drawn the most acclaim from the 90s post hardcore scene, their music brings angry, yet melodic overtone.
EAST OF THE WALL will be entering the renowned New Brunswick, New Jersey recording studio Trax East on May 27th to begin tracking the band’s next album, Redaction Artifacts, with engineer Eric Rachel (Burnt By The Sun, God Forbid, The Red Chord, Municipal Waste). Mixing is scheduled for mid-July and the album will be released in late October via Translation Loss Records.

Those wishing to hear new material from Redaction Artifacts right now can do so by purchasing the benefit single for the band’s new song, “I’m Always Fighting Drago.” All proceeds go to producer Andrew Schneider, to help him rebuild his studio Translator Audio — the point of conception for previous East Of The Wall albums as well as Made Out Of Babies, Keelhaul, Cave In, Unsane, and more have recorded — which was destroyed during Hurricane Sandy. In addition to the new demo for “…Drago” and an acoustic version of the band’s song “Century Of Excellence,” anyone who purchases the benefit single this April will receive links to download two free albums. The first is the new Personnel EP from EOTW guitarist/vocalist Matt Lupo’s solo project Opul. The second is the full-length Understanding Consequences from Day Without Dawn, the short-lived group formed by members of EOTW in 2006 after their previous band The Postman Syndrome disbanded. Purchase the Benefit For Translator Audio single and receive the complimentary albums RIGHT HERE.

One last way to hear new EAST OF THE WALL music in advance is to see them live. This April, the band — with Carmine Laietta of Hull in tow as a touring third guitarist — will be road testing new material on a two week tour. Also available at these shows is the new vinyl edition of the band’s out-of-print first album, Farmer’s Almanac, released today via Nefarious Industries.

arbogast’s off-kilter but seamless hybrid of extreme musical styles infiltrated the media at the turn of the year by way of a crushing debut album, simply entitled I. The trio’s slamming hooks and percussion are also fueled by sturdy societal and political disdain. Their unique sound is a hybrid of thrash, hardcore, sludge and even old-school punk merged into an aggressively progressive haze that never veers too far into the pretentious. I tackles a theme on the minds of many: the declining morals of a country where the middle class is being overthrown by the greed of the privileged. Recorded by Andy Nelson (Weekend Nachos) at Bricktop Studios in Pilsen and mastered by Matt DeWine at Ukrainian Village’s Pieholden Suite Sound, founded by the late Jay Bennett (Wilco), I was released in December via New Jersey-based Nefarious Industries.

“…imagine At The Drive In meets Mastodon. But not yet as amazing as whit that might sound like when their potential is realized.” – Terrorizer

“Seriously, how is this band not already signed, touring with (and blowing away) the likes of High on Fire and The Sword? The world is a cruel and unjust place…” – Decibel

“…successfully fuses the well-deep riffing of doom metal with the head-banging aggression of thrash and hardcore punk, a blend it manages successfully across the record’s 11 tracks.” – The Onion’s A.V. Club

“…complex, engagingly brainy metal, driven by righteous political fury—the band reserves a special place in Hades for the rich and exploitative—and leavened with quiet, clean breaks whose breathing room really just sets up the next charge of jackhammer force.” – Chicago Reader

“A thrashy take on stoner/sludge metal, hard to define, great chemistry between the trio, not content to stick to the same approach on every song. 4/5″ – Metal Underground

“…sounds like early Refused with a shot of sludge…” – MetalSucks

From a city of musical innovators, Jar’d Loose present the next chapter in their hometown’s history of heaviness. Jar’d Loose’s sound is all their own — thoroughly rocking yet left-of-center, totally new yet aligned with the spirit of their musical ancestors, from The Jesus Lizard to Entombed.

Now is your chance to own for the first time in a vinyl format the debut album from Jar’d Loose, Goes to Purgatory.

In support of the release, Jar’d Loose will be doing a special in store performance at Reckless Records in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood on Record Store Day, Sat, April 20th. Chicago’s Lair of The Minotaur (releasing a limited edition 7 inch that day) also perform. 2pm. Free.

This monstrous LP, infused with dirty noisy hardcore grooves, hits the streets April 23. Pre-orders are live, so get your filthy paws on one immediately!

We’re ridiculously psyched to offer up The Calling, a digital release from Chilean composer and reedsman Diego Manuschevich. Hailing from Santiago, the saxophonist, clarinetist and composer has carved out a niche for himself at the forefront of Chile’s jazz and experimental music scenes. Manuschevich has long created music deeply rooted in the bop, post-bop and early free jazz traditions, while developing his own abstract, dense and complex musical lexicon. Today we bring you nine of Manuschevich‘s original compositions featured on his newest record, The Calling, a highly orchestrated tour de force of dizzying, unpredictable melodies and ornate arrangements.
