Stumbling Through The Walls is the staggering new album by progressive noise rock act HIRAKI. As a part of Denmark’s flourishing underground scene for dark and heavy music, the three-piece presents a sonic assault to accompany the inevitable fact: Our world is sick and we all take part in maintaining the fucked up structures!
Encouraged by boundless acts like Daughters, Street Sects, and The Body, HIRAKI relies on gnawing synthesizers, ripping guitars, and crushing drums to deliver the foundation on which vocalist Jon Gotlev spits his lyrics about corrupted data and moral decay. And make no mistake – he has a lot on his mind this time!
HIRAKI emerged in 2016 following the hiatus of progressive rock act LISERSTILLE (Jon: Drums, Tue: Guitars). Jon and Tue teamed up with long time favorite hangaround and visual collaborator Tim to form a noisy band very unlike anything else in the Danish scene at the moment. In May 2017 the debut album Modern Genes was self-released digitally, on cassette, and as vacuum packed art prints, and later also released as a vinyl split with Copenhagen post-hardcore act We Are Among Storms. Following the release of Modern Genes, HIRAKI was selected for Danish webzine Blastbeast.dk’s annual showcase The New Shit, which included live concerts, press coverage and a broadcasted radio feature.
HIRAKI has shared the stage with several of the most interesting acts from the Danish scene for hard music such as Hexis, LLNN, Oxx, We are Among Storms, Telos, Heathe. In February 2019 HIRAKI had the honor of supporting American experimental hardcore punk collective The Armed on their first ever German shows, ultimately resulting in a rare collaboration with vocalist Cara Drolshagen on the opening track of Stumbling Through The Walls. The new album furthermore boasts contributions from Anders Jørgen Mogensen of CPH installment Gullo Gullo as well as a full feature by the shooting star Rikke Fink.
Tilt the structure. Tilt the structure. TILT THE STRUCTURE!
